Alcohol: 85% of French people are unaware of any consumption threshold safer

85% of French know no limit alcohol intake to lower risk, according to a TNS Sofres survey conducted for Business and Prevention, published Monday, February 9. If nearly one in three French people think about these data, half of them are actually wrong. This ignorance is especially pronounced among young people as more than 90% of respondents under 35 years do not know the number of drinks recommended.

This study shows that most consumers know the number of drinks a woman can drink (12% against 9% for men). 11% of respondents over age 65 have no fault mentioned two thresholds consumption.

Meanwhile, 83% of respondents say they favor the appearance of these thresholds on the advertising of alcoholic beverages.

In addition, producers of alcoholic beverages have today expressed their wish to be allowed to refer to in their advertising consumption thresholds at lower risk defined by the World Health Organization (WHO).
